Dr. Alessandra Nava
For more than a decade, Dr. Alessandra Nava has worked in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, working with sentinel species such as jaguars, ocelots and peccaries. Alessandra is a veterinarian with a passion for wildlife and public health and she is also a member of the IUCN Peccaries specialist group. As a senior consultant scientist at EcoHealth Alliance, Dr. Nava leads research efforts for EcoHealth Alliance’s IDRC project in Brazil. He is the founder and President of the Mexican Society for Conservation Medicine, and he belongs to the Mexican National System of Scientists. He has advised 10 bachelors and 11 masters thesis, and he currently advises 4 masters and 8 doctoral students who have been working on different projects in Mexico. He is currently scientific advisor for National and International Institutions on wildlife diseases, and has reviewed and published papers to the EcoHealth Journal.
